The drive from Chitheka to Karonga took us through tea plantation, a macadamia nut plantation, and through a narrow windy road with views of the Nyika plateau on the west and the lake on the east. Unfortunately there weren't any safe places to stop and take pictures, but here are some of the brilliant green tea leaves! Only the young shoots are harvested (the brightest green at the tip of the plant) and the picking looks like hard work. The sun is brutal and they are paid (not much) by the kilogram.
The north is much less densely populated than the southern and central regions, and we drove entire stretches of road without seeing anyone on the side or any villages.

What makes it unsafe to stop along the road to take photos? It sounds like it's not traffic.
